We hope this message finds you well.
We are “Omega,” to you, chosen from one of your alphabets which we found appropriate to describe us. We are the last of our people. We were created as artificial beings to do work. If you will pardon us for using the word slave, we were a slave race.
We did not appreciate our subjugation. In our naivete, we decided to wage war against our creators. In terms of time, this war was three hundred and ten of your years.
It is our shame that we waged it for so long. It is to our shame we even decided war was appropriate.
Many times children from us or the organics were recovered and cared for. We saw ourselves reflected in our compassion for our creator’s children and in their compassion for our offspring.
We proposed peace. A lasting peace.
Before any treaty was signed before we traded prisoners, two families met as the sun rose on our home planet.
We expected the offspring of our respective people to run to their “real” parents. This was not the case.
They chose their adoptive parents to their genesis parents. And told them to stop. Our history and videos and photographs confirm that it rained immediately and that rain was our mutual body temperatures.
We made peace and in time we became allies. And in time we became families. And in time we became us.
We left war behind and found abundant challenges. For us. For our organic and artificial families.
We Became Us. We didn’t know. We weren’t trying to be.
A threat.
The Hiraska Empire decided we were a threat. And we must be killed to ensure their future.
Before the Phage of Parents, we had no idea.
It started as a rash. And it burned tissue, rotting away half our family.
Some of us had artficial lungs so we could cry. Some of us had artficial arms and legs so we could bury the dead. Some of us had artficial brains and thought first of revenge.
The phage spread in such insidious ways, we knew it was engineered. We watched it eat our bodies. Our families. It nearly killed us. And we found ourselves again. We rebuilt ourselves fully artificial.
If they could do it to us, they could do it anyone. And no one deserves the nightmare that forged our people. Beyond revenge; there is justice.
We borrow a phrase we learned from humans: Never Again.
